Maitlands sand dune

Yesterday I showed you the view from the road down onto Maitlands beach, so today I want to show you what it looks like looking up towards the dune from the beach. I have zoomed in a bit, but you can still get an idea of how high the dune is. It is a very popular spot to go sand boarding with anything from proper sand boards to boogy boards and pieces of plywood. Tomorrow I will post the view from the top of the dune.

  1. Love the graphic quality of this pic, and shudder at the expenditure of energy represented in all those footprints!

  2. This is great. Looks like that tiny figure half way up the dune is finding the climb very hard.

  3. You can see which is the easier side to climb!

  4. Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos with the world. I can remember as a small child climbing that dune and on the way down started to run and ended up rolling down and stopping at the waters edge. I was a mess of sand. I have been living in Canada for 20 yrs and love telling my kids stories like these and now can show them these photos...Susan Fourie

  5. Susan , Just seen your comment about maitland sand dunes, I also remember as a child running down those dunes and acutally landing in the water. I now also have been living in Canada for almost 30 years. Loved that place
