Lifeguards

On hobie beach during the holiday season, this lifeguard's shed made an appearance near the Shark Rock Pier. These volunteers do amazing work keeping an eye on holidaymakers as they enjoy the waves. As you can see from the sign, they have been in action for the past 50 years. Thanks guys and girls!

  2. ... rotated and replaced by younger ones over the years ... hopefully. can't imagine a big mama being saved by a 70 year old lifesaver :-)

  3. Hear hear - the lifesavers do a phenomenal job, as do the surf rescue volunteers (the guys who are on call to go and rescue e.g. fishermen who get into trouble in the Swartkops River mouth...)
